The company's focus is on Central Africa and Central America. We spoke with Nejdet Tıskaoğlu, the Chairman of the Board of Elcab Kablo Profile Industry Trade Inc., about their company, the cable industry, and their vision.
Can you provide us with information about your products? Do you have new products and research and development efforts?
Our company, founded in 1998 in Istanbul and currently operating in Zonguldak, Çaycuma, and Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, continues to produce various products used in the manufacturing of household appliances, such as silicone cables, fiberglass cables, silicone gaskets, silicone hoses, silicone profiles, cable assemblies, signal lights, plug-in cables, and PVC cables, in accordance with international quality standards and using methods that meet the technological requirements of the time. As a company specializing in silicone cables and household appliances, our mission is to manufacture various cable groups, especially silicone, and supply these products to the auxiliary industry for household appliances. Our main target audience includes manufacturers of household appliances and small electrical appliances, as well as electrical markets and the lighting industry. We are aware that innovation and research and development can enhance product quality and add value to the product. Therefore, we are continuously active in this area, and due to our effective performance and achievements, we have developed globally competitive economic solutions, becoming a preferred supplier for the main industries with a customer satisfaction-oriented quality approach.
To what extent were your domestic sales and exports conducted this year? Which countries and regions are you focusing on or planning to focus on?
Elcab Kablo conducts its sales activities both domestically and abroad with two separate professional teams. For the year 2023, we created a "target list" with our team colleagues. This serves as a motivating factor for all of us and allows us to clearly see what we have achieved by the end of 2023. As a company with a young and dynamic structure that responds quickly to requests and produces high-quality products, we export our products to the domestic market as well as to many countries in Europe, Asia, North Africa, South America, and the Middle East. Our goal is to maintain the export volume in a wide range of countries and deliver the products produced worldwide without compromising on quality to meet the wishes and demands of our customers. In addition to our existing customers, we strive to increase our export volume in these markets through trade fairs, market research, and customer visits. Given the important position we hold in the Turkish cable industry, we focus primarily on the regions and markets in Central Africa and Central America.
How is the demand developing in the domestic market and in exports?
In Turkey, important and large projects in our industry are still ongoing. In addition to these projects, when we evaluate the domestic market, we can see that there is a financial tightening due to the political uncertainties and problems outside our country, which bring problems. However, it should be noted that this does not reflect in our business volume. Looking at the export side, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and now the Israel-Palestine conflict have once again demonstrated that an event anywhere in the world affects all nearby and distant regions. Therefore, economies are forced to be affected by these events, and our country, due to its geographical and geopolitical position, is more affected by these events. In times when exports have decreased to specific markets, the reason is that the sector is limited to a small portion of the market due to the chronic practice of industrialists limiting exports to only a few countries. Therefore, to mitigate risk, it is necessary to increase the number of markets and expand our sales network in the current adverse conditions. If you put all your eggs in the same basket, you will lose all your eggs if a potential blow occurs to the basket. However, if you divide the eggs into two different baskets and distribute the risk, you can at least save half in the event of a problem. Therefore, the most effective and efficient solution is to distribute the risk to different and diverse markets, not just specific markets, for all industrialists and manufacturers, to ensure that export data is not negatively affected even in adverse conditions.
What is your vision for the coming period?
The pursuit of technological developments and the utilization of these developments to continue to be a leader form the cornerstone of our vision for the coming period at Elcab Kablo. The sustainable expansion of our establishment and the enhancement of the economic value we create are of utmost importance to us. We believe in the need to increase efficiency and competitiveness to be a leader in the competition.
